India Rupee, Indian Currency, INR

The Indian Rupee (International Currrency Code: INR) is the official currency in India. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) controls the issue of the currency. Rs. is the common symbol for INR. One Rupee is equal to 100 paise. The singular for paise is paisa. Sometimes it is referred to as the Naya (new) Paisa.

Rupee is derived from the root Sanskrit word Rupyakam - meaning a silver coin. Most Indians will understand 'Rupee', though local languages might have different words for the currency.

 

India Food, Drinks - Indian Cuisine

Indian cuisine is varied in taste and type. Around 35% of Indians are strict Vegetarians while another 30% are regular meat eaters. While it is difficult to describe Indian cuisine with our linking it to the geographic regions, It is true to say the Indian food is generally spicy. It is made from Rice, Wheat flour, variety of pulses, vegetables, fruits and spices. Indian curries are cooked in ghee, peanut oil, mustard oil, coconut oil or gingili oil, depending on the region. Fish and meat are also part of many recipes.

India Electricity - Electrical Plugs, Converters, Electric Sockets, Electric Adapters

India uses 230 Volts, 50 Hz alternating current as the power source. Plugs and sockets have either grounded / earthed 3 Pin connections (Type D) or ungrounded 2 pin connections (Type C).

 

The two pin plug is also called the Europlug. It has two round 4 mm (0.157 in) pins. It can be inserted in either way into the socket. Hence there is no fixed live (hot) and neutral (cold) terminals.

India Tourism - Indian Holiday, Travel

According to the World Travel and Tourism Council, WRO, the Travel and Tourism Industry in India contributed INR1,165.4 bn or US$24.2 bn directly, amounting to 2.2% to GDP, in 2009. This is expected to rise to INR3,345.3 bn or US$61.0 bn by 2019. Including indirect contributions, the revenues should grow from INR3,239.4 bn or US$67.3 bn to INR10,274.1 bn or US$187.3, amounting to 6% of the GDP, during the same 2009-2019 period.

Indian States

India is a Sovereign, Secular, Democratic Republic with a Parliamentary system of Government. It is made up of a number of states. The President of India is the the constitutional head of the Executive of the country. Each state has a  Governor, who represents the President, and is the head of state Executive.
